Dental plaque comes of calcified fur found on the teeth, after the salivary minerals' infiltration. Dental plaque - which contains a lot of bacteria - strongly encrusts on the teeth and dental restorations, hence it can only be remowed in a professional way.

Subservient factors are: teeth too close to eachother - because it is hard to keep them clean - defective fillings or restorations and some genetical agents.

The dental plaque placed above the gum perceptible to the naked eye is situated in front of the salivary glands' outlets (inner surface of the lower front teeth or the external surface of the upper grinders) most of the time.

The under-gum dental plaque placed in the gum-sachets is invisible to the eye. They are much more compact, stiffer and they can only be removed with special instruments.

Dental plaque causes trouble, because it assures an excellent place for those bacterias which cause paradonthopathia, bleeding of gum and final loosing teeth. Besides, dental stone is not aesthetic and it causes foul breath.
